Santa Ana, Orange County
When Orange County split from Los Angeles County in 1889, Santa Ana became its county seat, and it still is. The Old Orange County Courthouse, a red sandstone building finished in 1901, stands downtown as a museum. Around it sit the courts and county offices that bring thousands of workers to Santa Ana each weekday.
